The Program: 

The Gan-Alef program builds upon the basic introduction to Jewish Life taught in the Nitzanim program. Children will experience more emphasis on the holidays, using compelling stories, crafts or role-playing activities. Students will also be introduced to Shabbat observance, to the Hebrew alphabet and key words, written and oral. Activities will include music, story-telling,dance, games and puppetry.

Key Competencies: 

Bible: Stories from the Book of Genesis

Holidays: Rituals and Blessings, Biblical Figures

Prayers: Blessings for food, Shabbat, Shem'a, Mode Ani, Adon Olam

Hebrew: Introduction to the Hebrew alphabet and key words in the Jewish Calendar and Life Cycle.

Teffilah: Torah Time Siddur and "Siddur Ma Tov"(Behrmann House)

Holidays: "I can celebrate the Jewish Holidays" ( Torah Aura)

Torah: "Learn and do Bible Book" (Behrmann House)

Shabbat: "A Day Apart- Shabbat at Home" (Hartman Institute)
