PJC KOSHER FOOD COOP

Living in Pelham and keeping kosher has its challenges, as there are few places that are easily accessible where you can buy high quality kosher meat and poultry.  Purchasing meat from processors who treat animals and employees within the rule of  Jewish and U.S. law, as well as morally, presents another set of complexities (see Rabbi Schuck's article in the June 2008 Hakol).

In response, the PJC has established a Kosher Organic Meat Co-Op agreement with a kosher food store in Rego Park, Queens, Aarons Gourmet.  Aarons sells many products, but all of the products that the PJC will purchase fulfill the rule of both Jewish and U.S. law.

The first order will be on June 18th.There is a huge advantage to this.  As a group, buying in volume, we will receive discounts on the shipping and the purchase prices. The discount is usually 10%.  All of the poultry and meat we have specified in the Co-Op agreement is organic as well as kosher. The Name of our Co-Op is "The Pelham Jewish Center Co-Op" and here is how it works:

Aaron's maintains a website thriugh which their customers can place orders.  You will see a list of products and retail prices and orders can be made using their a secure and protected web.  There website address is:   www.aaronsgourmet.com/html/kosher_organic.html

Delivery is scheduled for the 3rd Wednesday of each month.  Deadline for order submissions is the 3rd Monday of each month.  We suggest that you submit your purchase request before that date to ensure the items you want are available.

When filling out the form, you must be sure to clearly enter Pelham Jewish Center Co-op, and your name at the bottom.

If you like, Aarons will keep your credit card number (they accept MasterCard, Visa and Discover) on file and charge your discounted total directly.  If you are concerned about using credit cards over the Internet, you can call them at 718-205-1992 after you've submitted your order using through their website.  Or, you can also fax your order and credit card information to them at 718-205-1802.  Aarons will contact you to verify receipt and accuracy of your order, after receipt.

Your order will be delivered to the PJC, frozen, packaged, and labeled with your name.  You can pick it up at the PJC on the 3rd Wednesday evening of each month.
